The first crocuses are springing up! These bulbs were donated by us to the Grow Community Garden. The Crocus is a flower which symbolises the story of the Rotary Polio eradication programme. The Crocus was chosen as the purple colour matched the dye painted on the little fingers of children to show that they have been immunised.
We had two heroes Keith & Ron from amazing charity Essex Blood Runners talk to us about their work. They’re a charitable organisation that delivers blood, samples and emergency plasma to hospital departments across Essex. They do this free of charge whenever and wherever it’s urgently needed. They’re on call from 7:00pm to 7:00am 7 nights a week, 24 hours Weekends and Bank Holiday, and all main holidays. They’re all volunteer bikers/car drivers and do not receive any payment for the work we do. Please support them.
EF Food Bank update
Through your efforts today we collected and sorted 33 (crammed full) trays of food and a whopping £236.92p in cash, This is truly Rotary – Making a Difference. Today’s food donations go to the Islington Foodbank to help those in real need.
So that’s 70 trays of food and £550 in cash so far over the 3 days. A fantastic result and, remember Tesco will add 20% of the value of the food by weight and give it to the Trussell Trust (85% of that is given back to the foodbanks). Thanks again for doing your bit.
Please get in touch if you want to get involved in anyway with Rotary – we are for communities.
