Epping Forest Dementia Action Alliance is Growing in Loughton.
Loughton, Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell Rotary have played a key role in the EF DAA since its inception in May this year. They are now signed up to the National Dementia Declaration which has been created in partnership with people with dementia.
Paul Reynolds from Haslers, chartered accountants, Loughton said “All members of Epping Forest Dementia Action Alliance publish an action plan on the DAA’s web site www.dementiaaction.org.uk , appropriate to their organisation. They then set out what they will do to help improve the lives of people living with dementia.”
Pesh Kapasiawala who is a member and former president of the local Rotary said “ We are looking forward to implementing our action plan and want to encourage other organisations and businesses across the district to sign up to help create a dementia-friendly community.”
LBC Rotary run lots of activities including their Memory Café on the 2nd Friday of the month at The Loughton Club , Station Road, for both those living with varying levels of memory loss and their carers/family and partners to enjoy free refreshments, entertainment, memorabilia and a chat.

Once again, thank you so much for all the time you’ve given to make sure the Big Collection has run smoothly in your store at the last minute! This is a massive achievement and valued all the more because the Collection likely would not have gone ahead without your efforts. All the time you have put into this collection is so important to the work of both Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation. The funds that you and your team have raised will support vital research and to encourage people to take up healthier lifestyles.
Working with you has been an absolutely fantastic – I cannot thank you enough! Your stepping in to help has been inspiring and I really cannot say it enough – THANK YOU!

Great RC LBC charity BBQ. We were fortunate with the weather and honoured to have our Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland President Eve Conway and Rotary in London District Governor Helen Antoniou attend too. Thank you for your continued support, it was a lovely afternoon spent in the company of friends. We raised about £1000 for Epping Forest CAB, well done to you all.
Fantastic launch of the Community Linking Project organised by LBC Rotary and partners VAEF & EFCC. Well attend by local businesses and Loughton Town Mayor, Carol Davies, and councillors John Mahoney and Janet Whitehouse. Facilitating partnerships with local charities, community groups and businesses and providing much needed support and assistance.
Membership & volunteers enquiries are always welcome.
We had a wonderful time taking nearly 40 children from Woodcroft Special Needs School for a day out to Paradise Wildlife Park. The work of the teachers and Head, Brian Sainsbury is amazing. It was all part of a National day out for kids under the ‘Kids Out’ charity. Thanks to our volunteers Edwin Attwood, Pam Merritt, Manisha Kapasiawala,
Wonderful inspiration guest speaker Salome Ahenkora who is MD of Chigwell Tours. Salome is partially sighted yet runs a successful local company. Please support a local business and the community.

The project to help local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups find local businesses to link with and facilitate successful beneficial ongoing relationships.
The project will help charities be visible, build them a profile and form a beneficial relationship with a local business.
The portfolio of charities details and support needs will be reviewed by local businesses to see what they could usefully do to help.
At this event the portfolio will be available for Businesses to review and meet representatives’ from charities to have a discussion about their needs and this will hopefully lead on to support. This is a great opportunity for B2B, B2C and C2C networking.
