President:

Deborah Hall

 Deborah joined Rotary in March 2001. She was born in Sussex and educated in Kent. Horses were her main interest so  became a riding instructor and enjoyed competing as well. She started teaching disabled people at Radnage House Riding School in Buckinghamshire and found a new and challenging career. She joined Chigwell Riding Trust For Special Needs in 1982 and has been the  Manager  from then on. She married Ken in 1987 and they had a daughter Eleanor in 1994.


Secretary:

Tony Harvey

Tony was invited to join Rotary in 1972, he is one of the longer serving members and has served on all committees. Tony was the first member to be President for two consecutive years in the 1990s. Gained considerable community experience from The Loughton Review - a popular local paper - which he founded with his wife Ann in 1968, and ran virtually single-handed until retirement in 1999. Is currently club secretary.  Away from Rotary he loves spending time with his six grandchildren, all of whom know what Rotary is; walking; gardening; weather watching; and delving into local history on which he has written booklets.


Treasurer:

B.A. Patel

BA was born in Anand, India.  He moved to Uganda in 1956, and to Tanzania in 1966.  He qualified as an Accountant, and served in Tea Industry for 35 years.  He was Secretary and Finance Director when retired.  His classification is Tea Consultant.  He joined as Rotarian in 1974 in Dares Salaam, and transferred to Loughton Club in 2004.  He loves Reading and Social work.


Membership:

Tony Miles

Tony was invited to join Rotary in 2006, he is one of the newer members.  He is married to Frances, and they live in Loughton with their two teenage children.  Tony is an ecumenical Media Chaplain (primarily supporting commercial radio), and a part of the Methodist ministerial team at Methodist Central Hall, Westminster.   Tony is a freelance author and broadcaster.  This includes presenting a weekly 5 hour show on Saturday mornings for Premier Christian Radio.  Tony is a trustee of the Churches Media Council and the Christian Evidence Society, and he is a member of the Churches Advertising Network.  Tony's interests include: popular music, holidays, writing, the theatre, and Fulham FC.

Speakers, Youth and Vocational:

Myra Williams

Myra was born and brought up in Northampton, met her husband Grahame in Durham and before moving to Loughton lived in Loughborough, Leeds and Manchester. Myra has 3 children and 5 grandchildren.  As a teacher, she worked in Northampton and Loughborough, did some supply work in Leeds, spent a few years with her small children and enjoyed 6 years teaching the 11+ class in Manchester before moving south and taking a part-time post at Braeside Senior School in  Buckhurst Hill.  Myra worked there from 1979, eventually becoming deputy head until her retirement in 1998.  Myra joined Rotary in August 2001 and have been active in the club and at district level have been a member of both the  International and Foundation Committees.  Myra enjoys reading, theatre visits, and travel.  She attends a local branch of NADFAS and belongs to Wanstead and Woodford Tangent Club.  Myra was club president for the year 2006-2007.
